INSIDE RECESS

With temperatures in the 20's,our kids are unable to have outside recess at school. We teachers tend to cringe when those two words are announced over the PA system: INSIDE RECESS. While the students may find this fun and exciting, inside recess usually ends with broken toys, missing puzzle/game pieces, injuries, bickering, and, more times than not, bad behavior.


Always creative and diplomatic, second-grade teacher Denise held a class meeting with her children. They brainstormed ways to make inside recess better. At the end of the exercise, she had students write the one thing they would pick to do at recess. Her favorite response...HOT TUB PARTY.
