Business is Good in Pre-K

This morning Ms. Paula's Pre-k class was walking down the hall when they saw Mr. Kenny, the custodian, emptying recycle containers into a larger receptacle.  As they passed, Marley looked up and said "Hi, Mr. Kenny!  How's business?"

Mom:  "I can't do that honey, only God can. If you want it light outside, tell Him."

Audrey:   "God, GOD, GOOOOOOOOOOOWD. I want it wight pwease. And I sing you a song. Jesus wuvs wittle chiwwin. Wed, Yewwow, black, white, piiiiiiink, and pwecious. De end".

Show and Smell

During a Pre-K show and tell circle Tucker brought a can of AXE chocolate scent.  After spraying the body spray for his classmates to smell, one classmate shared this thought:  "That smells like handsome!"

Winter Sports

My friend Paula is an AMAZING Pre-K teacher and even MORE AMAZING mom (if that's even possible) of  FIVE BOYS, three of which are still little and living at home.

She recently was talking to the boys about the sports they want to play this winter. Matthew wants to play indoor soccer as usual. Chase said he just really wants to take swim lessons.  Paula wasn't sure what Chevi would say. He played basketball last winter but has also talked about indoor soccer.

Paula:  "Chevi, are you wanting to switch to a new sport this Winter?"
Chevi: "Yah, Mom. I want to be a cage fighter!".
And then...he broke out into "cage fighter" moves.

Sadly, haven't seen Cage Fighting sign ups for ages 6 and under listed in the newspaper lately.

We've All Been There

Moms and dads, don't you hate it when your words come back to haunt you?

Corrine:  Mom, I need more milk.
Mom:  What do you say?
Corrine:  Can I have more milk, please?
Mom:  Good job. Bring me your cup.
Corrine:  You're supposed to say,  "Bring me your cup, please."

In a few short weeks three-year-old Corrine will start preschool.  I think she's ready!

Spell it!

Mom and three-year-old Corrine had a mini spelling lesson today.

Mom:     "Corrine, "How do you spell your name?
Corrine:  "C-O-R-R-I-N-E. Now my turn."
Mom:     "Okay."
Corrine:  "How do you spell mountain goat?"

Flashback Friday

2013 Super Bowl half time show...Beyoncé rockin' on stage.  Her image is magnified over and over and over behind her.  MJ turns to Mom and says:  "Cool!  Look at all the Beyoncés---or should I say Beyonci."  Of course, that was the highlight of the half-time show for Mom.

 Mom:   Uh oh

Riders of the Storm

During a recent thunderstorm with tornado warnings, one mom gathered her kids and took them to the basement. Her girls packed a bunch of stuff to put in the closet with them, including their piggy banks.  Thankfully everyone was fine and the storm passed.  Just sitting in the basement after the storm, Lexi says, "Well, that was a rip off...packing all our stuff for THAT storm!"

Brownies...No Foolin'

My friend called today to ask if they could drop off some brownies her 11 year old daughter made for us.  I happily said YES and checked the fridge to see if we had some milk.  About twenty minutes later Kate and her little brother Max arrived with a batch of brown Es.   They got us!  Happy April Fool's Day!

First Love

When Guy came home from elementary school Dad noticed a couple of love notes from a girl in his class named Trinity.
Dad:  "Guy, it looks like Trinity is in love with you."
(Dad thought Guy would turn red or deny it, but instead...)
Guy: "Oh yes. She really loves me and I am falling in love with her. I love her and like her a lot."
Dad:  "Oh wow!  She must be really nice and pretty."
Guy:  "She sure is. My Love meter is pegged!"

Dorks Unite!!!

I must admit our eleven year old daughter rocks!  Too bad her parents are DORKS!

MJK's teacher calls earlier in the week to let us know MJK is receiving the Rotary Student of the Quarter award at the school-wide morning meeting on Friday.  This is a surprise to MJK.  So...her dad and I concoct a plan...

Today is THE day.  Dad drops her off in the circle at school and secretly parks by the dumpster.  I follow in my car at a safe distance and meet Dad at the appointed rendezvous spot.   We exit our vehicles and stroll into the gymnasium with smug smiles on our faces like proud Secret Service agents.  This would be the point when her teacher looks at us and says, "They already presented MJK with the award!"

Thanks goodness the teacher and principal took pity on us and graciously re-enacted the presentation of MJK's special award.  While I am sure MJK was a bit mortified by the whole situation, I had to get the photo for the scrapbook.  Am I right?

More from Corrine

Mom just gobbled down some super garlic Chex mix.   When soon-to-be-three-years-old Corrine woke up, Mom cuddled her up and started rocking her.  Corrine very politely asked Mom for a favor:

Corrine:   "Mom, stop whispering that you love me."
Mom:       "Why?"
Corrine:   "Because I don't like how your breath smells. When you finish rockin' me you can rinse your mouth like Daddy does with that green stuff."

She's so sweet.
