Not so "Hoppy"...

Sophie:  Look how my little frog is all relaxed and floating on his back, chillaxing!
 Mom:   Uh oh

Olympic UGGHH!

My ten-year-old daughter and I waited all week to watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.  I soaked up the music and the pagentry.  She waited paitently hour after hour to see The Parade of Nations.  Finally...twenty-one letters into the parade...The United States of America enters the arena.  Eyes glued to the television my little diva checks out their outfits and remarks in disgust, "OMG!!!  Did you see those shoes?  They are totally theraputic (I think she may have been going for orthopedic here.)  I can't even look."  With that, she rolled over, snuggled under her blanket and drifted off to sleep.  U-S-A!   U-S-A!  U-S-A!

Sunscreen Poster Child

Sam thought he'd apply his own sunscreen. At least he won't get a sunburn...on his forehead.

Summer Fun

Took some time today to hang out in my pool with some dear, old friends. Wait a minute. Let me clarify. The friendships I have with these people are old--long standing. The people themselves are young and vibrant~!

Anyway...while we were in the pool I caught this conversation between Jaden 4 and Carter 5. Totally made me smile.

Jaden to Carter: Hey...I can go for longer (as he submerges himself in the shallow end)

Carter to Jaden: Who can go longer? Who can go longer? Who can go longer?

At this point Carter clearly doesn't understand that Jaden wants to see who can stay under water the longest. Carter keeps asking over and over because Jaden does not reply. Sadly, Jaden couldn't hear him because he already started the underwater competition. Finally Jaden pops up from under the water.

Jaden to Carter: Hey...you were suppose to follow me (under the water)! CUTE!

The BEST vacation ever

Aiden, soon to be a second grade student, took some time to relax at a lake-front cabin with his extended family. While being pulled in an inner tube on the lake he was heard to exclaim: "SWEET MOTHER IN HEAVEN, I LOVE THIS!"

The Big Game

Jae's coach-pitch softball coach had all the girls pumped up about the "BIG GAME" last Monday. Her team is undefeated the team she was "versing" also undefeated. Before the game she looked and me and said, "Mom, I feel tingly. What if we don't win our game?"

Of course I told her as long as they have fun and try their best they will all be winners.

Pool party

Had a little get together today with some friends and their kids, ranging in age from 2 years to 8 years old. While the kids were swimming, the mommies sat on the deck chatting. It was HOT. My skin was sizzling like bacon--lean bacon, but still...

About an hour into the party the kids began to chant my name--all in an effort to get me into the pool. I guess what my daughter says is true...I'm so popular in the second grade! I relented, couldn't let my fans down, and inched my way in to the pool.

My favorite 3 1/2 year old, Davey, found many creative uses for a large pair of goggles while we were in the pool. From "baby crib" to "car", those goggles were getting a work out. At one point he filled them with water and got the CRAZY idea to pour water on all the mommies' heads. I politely tried to tell him I just couldn't have water poured over my head, because I was wearing my favorite hat. About 3 minutes later he tapped me on the shoulder, sporting a sweet smile and holding a pair of goggles full of water, and said, "Hey, take your hat off." Whew! good thing I saw that one coming. A shower was diverted and Davey remains my favorite 3 1/2 year old.
