This week I began substitute teaching in a Pre-k classroom, because the teacher had a baby. At the end of Day 1 all the children were sitting on the carpet quietly (well, they were trying) reading books to themselves. One girl asked me to read her the Barbie Vet book, and several students gathered round.
At one point in the book Megan brings in a swollen cat to Dr. Barbie at her veterinary clinic. I ask the children gathered around me, "What do you think could be happening to the cat?" The boy on my right shouts in an excited voice, "She's going to EXPLODE!"
Correct answer: The cat is having kittens.
